Our first appointment is 90 minutes. We’ll explore your history, what brings you in now, and what you’re hoping to achieve in treatment. I’ll share my diagnostic impression and recommendations. Sometimes that includes starting medication right away; other times, we might decide to wait to gather more information or pursue non-pharmacologic treatments first. My goal is for our treatment to feel collaborative; we will determine during this appointment if my practice is a good fit for your treatment needs.

After our first visit, we’ll meet for 30-minute follow-up appointments where we’ll continue your treatment together. During these sessions, we’ll refine diagnoses, adjust or consider medications, and integrate psychotherapy. I also take into account lifestyle factors like sleep, nutrition, and movement, recognizing their essential role in mental health. We will generally meet monthly, though sessions may occur more or less frequently depending on clinical need.

In addition to practicing as a psychiatrist, I am also a trained psychotherapist. I have select slots available for long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy. Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps you explore the deeper roots of emotional suffering and unhealthy patterns in relationships. Together, we look at how past experiences may shape how you think, feel, and relate today. Through this process, you can gain insight into unconscious patterns that may be causing distress or keeping you stuck. This type of therapy is less about quick symptom relief and more about understanding why we feel and react the way we do; over time, this insight can lead to lasting change. We will meet at least weekly for this type of therapy. If you are also taking medication, it will be adjusted as needed during our sessions.

I have a special interest and expertise in treating women’s mental health across the reproductive lifespan. I help navigate challenges related to premenstrual mood changes. I work with individuals to treat mood and anxiety disorders before, during, and after pregnancy. Additionally, I have expertise in treating the mental health of those facing fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, and peri-menopause. My approach is evidence-based, personalized, and collaborative. I integrate judicious use of medication (if necessary), psychotherapy, and lifestyle support.
